Amazon.com Product Description
Looking for an easy-to-use, lightweight traction device for your shoes? Turn to the spikeless Yaktrax Walker traction cleats, which offer 10 times the gripping points as any spike-based traction device. Ideal for pedestrians, the elderly, businesspeople, or anyone else who wants greater stability on ice and snow, the Yaktrax Walkers are terrific for walking to and from work, school, or even the mailbox down the street. (Mountain climbers should consider the Yaktrax Pro cleats, which are designed for more arduous conditions.)

Each Yaktrax Walker is made out of an injection-molded thermal plastic elastomer that's lightweight yet durable. The coils are also protected against rusting, with a hand-wound design that provides 360 degrees of traction on ice and snow. Every step you take in the Yaktrax Walker places hundreds of biting edges in direct contact with the ice beneath your feet, with the high-strength horizontal coils providing forward and backward stability while the vertical coil pattern provides side-to-side stability. And thanks to the sturdy outerband--which conforms to the length and width of your boot or shoe--the cleats fit securely throughout the day but slip off in an instant.

Suitable for temperatures as low as -41 degrees F, the Yaktrax Walkers have been approved and recommended by the National Health & Wellness Club and the Handyman Club of America. The Yaktrax Walkers are available in extra-small, small, medium, and large sizes.

5 out of 5 stars My 1st time in snow!!   April 8, 2010
einre
I have to say that I am impressed by this product. My wife and I went on a trip to California and Big White Kelowna, Canada with a bunch of college friends in early March. It was our (wife and I) very first time to see snow and walk around in it as well. We purchased our Yaktrax from a sports store while in California and it was $20/pair, well spent (I wish I looked on amazon.com first but we were on our vacation).

The Yaktrax are easy to put on, just slip toe-end in first and pull the heel-end up over the heel. It sits snugly in place over the bottom of your shoe (and they fit on any shoe as our friends with similar shoe sizes tried them as well). I have never walked in snow so I had to try walking around without the Yaktrax first just for the experience. I slid around a bit and had to take smaller steps than normal to walk around. After that short live experience I decided to put the Yaktrax on, and I know this will sound like some cheap info-mercial but, What a difference! I no was no longer sliding around with the exception of on very icy areas. Walking on packed snow was no problem.

My wife and I love them. It was a good thing we had them because a couple of friends next to us walking with us actually fell and slid down the hill about 15 feet (it was kind of funny). We did not experience any problems with it moving out of place. We liked it so much that we convinced some of our friends to purchase them from a shop in the ski village, although theirs cost a bit more. We will definitely use them again on our next winter trip and here's a tip: treat your shoe's with some kind of water proofing or water shedding product, it will help keep your shoes dry.

5 out of 5 stars Yak Trax rock!   March 26, 2010
Maura Mcknight (Washington, D.C.)
A friend of mine let me borrow a pair of her Yak Trax during the first round of 'Snowmageddon 2009/2010' here in D.C. We walk several miles a day each weekday & those Yak Trax really came in handy. They kept us from slipping on the ice that stuck around for weeks. I bought my own set. I highly recommend this product. They kept us from developing Cabin Fever.

5 out of 5 stars I love my yaktrax walkers   March 10, 2010
D.G. (Pittsburgh, PA)
These Yaktrax are amazing. If you live in an area that sees a lot of snow or ice, these yaktrax are worth every penny. I live in PA where this past winter we experienced more snow than what I can ever remember. The ice that formed around the sidewalk and up our driveway was a total disaster. We had to park our cars on top of a hill because the ice was to thick to drive down to the house safely. Every morning I made sure that I had my Yaktrax on just to make it up our hill to the car. The Yaktrax provided the traction that I needed to get up the hill safely. I'm going to make sure that everyone in my family has a pair of these next year.

3 out of 5 stars Work good but break easily   February 25, 2010
TheFrey (Pennsylvania)
I buy these for my stepfather who walks everywhere. He likes them, they are compact enough to put in his pocket when he gets where he is going, easy to put on and most importantly they do keep him from slipping....but they are so delicate. The last pair I bought him only lasted two weeks.

Customer service immediately wanted to know what he wears them with, boots, shoes, sneakers ect.. and was most disappointed when I told them sneakers. But they did ship him a new pair right away so that was good. I will have to look for something sturdier for next winter.

1 out of 5 stars Beware Dangerous!   February 17, 2010

If you use these, make sure you inspect them before each use. The rubber framework is not very resilient and can break. While running, mine Yak broke and I stepped on the broken piece. I subsequently tripped and landed on my face. I broke a tooth and it became imbedded in my lip. I needed oral surgery to remove the tooth. This is not an isolated incident. I know another runner whose Yaks broke and got caught on her pants. She fell on her face. She has been told that she may need numerous root canals on her damaged front teeth. I will either try spikes or just put up with a little slipping and sliding. These things are just too dangerous.
